Choosing Utilities Provider - Top Tips

Reducing your energy bill

The easiest way to reduce your energy bill is to use less energy. This is not as hard as it may seem:

  • use low energy light bulbs and always turn off the lights when you leave a room
  • make sure TV's, computers and games consoles are turned off, not left on standby
  • when you boil the kettle, only fill it with as much water as you need
  • turn the thermostat on your hot water or central heating system down a little
  • adjust your heating timer to slightly reduce how long your heating is on each day
  • draft-proof your windows and doors
  • put heat reflectors (or foil) behind your radiators
  • wash the laundry at 40°C rather than 60°C

Taken together, these small measures can make a big difference!

Other ways to save money

We can't do anything about the rising cost of wholesale energy, but we can help you save money in many other ways:

  • Our exclusive CashBack Card could save you around 25% every month on your utility bill, simply by using it instead of your regular credit or debit card when you do your everyday shopping.
  • We have over 1,000 online retail partners who offer CashBack if you shop with them by clicking on a link in the Clubhouse
  • Our Home Phone line rental is around £50 cheaper than BT each year, and we offer unlimited free calls at any time of day (depending on the number of services you take).
  • Members who use us to supply their Home Phone and Broadband service in addition to their energy can benefit from unlimited free calls to many destinations, at any time of day.
  • Our Share and Save plan can reduce the cost of your utilities every month, if you introduce our Discount Club to your friends and they become a member too.
  • And our new online shopping tool 'findmethecheapest' can find the cheapest prices online for the things you want to buy.
